Referee play-acts v Luis Fabiano

An incredible incident played out in Brazil on Sunday night involving 36-year-old striker Luis Fabiano.

The incident occurred in the match between Vasco and Flamengo.

Vasco took the lead in the contest thanks to a goal from Yago Pikachu, however Vasco soon found themselves in a spot of bother when the referee booked Luis Fabiano.

The yellow card enraged the former Brazil striker, Fabiano duly squared up to official, and incredibly the referee simulated a headbutt as he was rocked back on his heels.

Cue the red card

After faking being hit by Fabiano, the official sent the striker off.

It was an incredible set of events.

More controversial decisions

It’s worth noting that the ref continued to make rough decisions in the game.

Flamengo had a goal controversially disallowed for offside, but they still reversed the deficit to lead 2-1.

In the last minute, however, the ref awarded a penalty against Fla for handball, despite it clearly hitting a player’s chest. Vasco scored and the match ended 2-2.
