Jamie Redknapp rips Jose Mourinho apart after Newcastle

Newcastle 1 – Man United 0

Matt Ritchie was the Newcastle hero on Sunday.

The Scottish international was given far too much space and time in the Man United box in the second half.

That allowed Ritchie to strike a sweet left-footed volley past David De Gea.

Newcastle shot up to 13th in the Premier League with the win. As for Man United, who stayed second, they are 16 points behind Man City.

Jamie Redknapp savages Jose Mourinho

On Monday in the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp has gone after Jose Mourinho.

It’s worth remembering that while the Premier League trophy is unlikely to go to Old Trafford this season, Mourinho could still lift silverware.

The Red Devils are still in the running for the Champions League and FA Cup.

And, in his first season at Man United, Mourinho won the League Cup and the Europa League.

Yet it’s obvious that Redknapp isn’t too impressed with Mourinho’s achievements in Manchester. He believes United made a mistake giving the Special One a new deal:

When Manchester United extended Jose Mourinho’s contract with a year and a half to run, I was genuinely surprised. What has he done to earn it?

They are being left in the shade by City in almost every department. While Guardiola’s best team trips off the tongue, it is difficult to name United’s preferred XI.

But the strangest thing about Mourinho extending his stay in Manchester is that he does not seem to have taken the place to his heart.
