Real Madrid & Chelsea
For months now Real Madrid and Chelsea have been linked in the gossip columns.
Reports in both Spain and England have claimed that Los Blancos are looking at signing Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois in the summer.
Whether either transfer happens remains to be seen, but the big update on Wednesday concerns a possible transfer in the opposite direction.
Cue the quotes
In a highly emotional interview, Morata revealed how he cried at Juventus after a terrible training session, he discussed what it’s like being slammed in the media, while he spoke opened about Chelsea.
On crying, Morata revealed how Gigi Buffon comforted him at the time:
I was crying. I was there on the treatment table and Gigi Buffon was next to me. Afterwards he took me aside, alone, and said that if I wanted to cry, do it at home. He said the people who wished me ill would be happy to see that and the people who wished me well would be saddened by it.
On being slammed in the press for poor performance, Morata said:
It also affects you to know your career also depends on the opinion of journalists, fans, directors, and sometimes they’re not really qualified to judge.
So what about moving to Chelsea?
Morata confirmed that he’s previously been approached by the Blues, his dad seems to think favourably about Antonio Conte’s side, while he discussed a potential future transfer:
Various Premier League coaches called to tell me to play for them… I spoke directly to Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, although the norm is clubs call my dad or agent. Madrid said they didn’t want to sell, so here I am.
I remember talking to my dad (about Chelsea) then and him saying: ‘This guy’s going to win the league there’.
If an offer like that came again and they want to sell, I shouldn’t close doors. I loved Italy but if one day I have to leave, I’m sure it will be to the Premier League.
