Hazard’s superb 2018/19
The 2018/19 season was arguably Eden Hazard’s best in a Chelsea shirt.
In 37 league outings, the Belgian scored 16 and assisted 15, the most assists of anyone in the PL this past season.
Hazard also cleaned up at the Chelsea end of season awards, landing the Player of the Year, Player’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards.
The winger would also end his campaign by scoring two and assisting one in Chelsea’s 4-1 Europa League final win vs Arsenal.
Real Madrid preparing bid
It was after this game that Hazard gave a big update about his future at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to a BT Sport reporter after the tie, when pressed on the issue of his future, Hazard stated:
“I think it’s goodbye. But in football, you never know.” As quoted by the Telegraph.
Hazard has seemingly been edging closer to a Real Madrid switch for some time now.
Now, according to the Telegraph, that saga looks to be finally coming to a close.
The English outlet is claiming that Los Blancos are preparing to bid £106 million for Hazard’s services, as they want the deal to be wrapped up pretty quickly.
As per the report from the Telegraph, Chelsea are said to have wanted around £100 million for Hazard, with that fee set to be met.
If Hazard was to remain at Chelsea this summer, it is believed that he would not sign any new deal and, as a result, could leave for free next year.
