Is a move on the cards?
Real Madrid have reportedly sent the head of international football department Juni Calafat to initiate first contact with Neymar’s entourage.
The Brazilian has now came back from the World Cup having been knocked out in the quarter-finals by Roberto Martinez’s Belgium.
It hasn’t been a great summer for the player, who was criticised on numerous occasions during the tournament before he eventually found his feet.
Though, it was already too late and Brazil fell out of the World Cup and now all focus turns to Neymar’s future.
That is because Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain star for a number of months now.
Now that Cristiano Ronaldo has left, Los Blancos will be looking to make a marquee signing to make up for the loss of their main man.
Neymar was tipped to be that player despite his links to Barcelona and now contact has reportedly been made.
That is because reports from Globesporte this week have revealed that Real Madrid’s head of international football department Juni Calafat flew out to Santos this week to speak with Neymar’s representatives.
Juni Calafat was the man responsible for completing deals for Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo previously.
Now he has his eyes firmly set on Neymar but it might not be as easy as completing a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
That is because Globo say that there is no release clause in the players PSG contract so the club would have to convince the club to sell.
Not only that, they would need to also convince the player over a move, something the report suggests is not very likely.
Though, this is probably not the last we’ve heard of this transfer saga.
