Real Madrid prepare offer to keep Luka Modric at the club

Staying

Luka Modric has been heavily linked with Inter Milan this summer, in a transfer that would certainly rock world football.

However, Real Madrid are trying to do everything in their power to keep him, and are trying their usual tactic of offering more money should the player remain.

Marca claim that the club are willing to give Modric a ‘sizeable’ payrise on his current salary of eight million euros per season – something that is a big motivating factor for the player, especially in light of the fact he is set to agree the last big contract of his career.

Losing Modric would be far from ideal for Real, especially on the back of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo leave, and they certainly do not want to look like a club who cannot keep hold of their best players.

Key player

There is certainly a power vacuum in Madrid now Ronaldo has left, and while Gareth Bale is looking to fill it, the likes of Marco Asensio could well find themselves looked to by the fans at least.

Bale has been at the club for some time now, and despite performing when injuries allow him to do so, has never really gelled with the fans or the Spanish players, and still cannot speak the language well, meaning when it comes to a new idol, the fans are likely to look closer to home.
