Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has placed an astronomical price tag on midfielder Luka Modric amid interest from Inter Milan.
The Croatian has been one of, if not the best midfielder in world football for at least a few seasons now.
He continued to his domination at the top with Croatia in the summer with the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He managed to guide the underdogs all the way to the final before eventually being broken by winners France.
That did not tarnish his reputation, however, with the player picking up the golden ball award for the best player at the tournament.
Now, his club future at Real Madrid has been brought into question after rumours of a move to Serie A.
No Inter move for Modric?
It was reported this week by Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky in Italy that Inter had held talks with Luka Modric’s representatives.
Even more, they reported that Modric was open to a move to the San Siro with the Italian giants.
That meant that in theory, all that would be needed was to agree a fee with Real Madrid.
That was never going to be easy but now it looks to be impossible after Florentino Perez set a €750m price tag on the player.
That is how much it would take to release the player from his contract and it’s safe to say they don’t want him to leave.
“The only possibility that leaves Modric is by paying €750m,” Perez explained, as cited by the Daily Mirror.
