Raphael Varane to Manchester United?
Manchester United are desperate to regain the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.
The Red Devils haven’t won the title for 5 years, their longest drought since the Premier League’s inaugural season in 1992/93.
If United want to take the title back from Manchester City next season, they are going to have to improve. United have lost to all three promoted sides this term and they must improve in all areas.
David De Gea is debatably the best goalkeeper in the world in the moment but it is fair to say that other than the Spaniard, United don’t have the most solid defence.
Jose Mourinho would like to buy Raphael Varane from his former club, Real Madrid, this summer in order to make United’s defence indestructible.
Would Raphael Varane leave Real Madrid?
Jose Mourinho bought Varane to Real Madrid from Lens in 2011 and gave the French defender the path to become one of the best centre backs in the world.
Varane has done tremendously well to take Pepe’s place in the Real Madrid side and be named in Real Madrid’s all time best foreign XI at such a young age.
At 25 years old, Varane is nearing the peak of his career and he will probably want to spend it at the biggest club in the world.
The problem is, some may see that club as being Manchester United.
The Express have reported that Mourinho is keen on brining Varane to Old Trafford which has seriously alarmed Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane has instructed Real Madrid officials to meet with Varane’s agent in order to persuade him to stay at the Bernabeu.
Varane is a big admirer of the Portuguese manager and has previously stated:
“Mourinho always hits the right spot. He does not need long speeches. He is precise and very direct. He was doing it for my own benefit.”
