Real Madrid making moves early in the window
Real Madrid have reportedly signed Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic in a deal worth £52.4million following his stunning season.
Just a year ago, Luka Jovic was a relatively unknown player in football.
Having failed to have any impact at Benfica, Jovic joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign.
Since then, his stock has rapidly increased.
After netting a respectable 9 goals during his debut campaign at the Commerzbank-Arena, Jovic has since gone on to score a stunning 27 goals across all competitions this season.
While he has racked up a solid 17 Bundesliga goals, he scored a very impressive 10 in the Europa League.
Should Olivier Giroud not score in the final, Jovic would finish as joint-top goalscorer in the competition.
Frankfurt quickly exercised their option to purchase Jovic permanently for €8 million, with big clubs likely to look at him ahead of the summer window.
Now, that interest has come to fruition, with Real Madrid having completed a deal to sign him according to reports.
Is Luka Jovic worth £52.4million?
According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid have now completed the signing of Jovic from Frankfurt.
Following his stunning campaign, Zinedine Zidane and Madrid have committed £52.4m (€60m) of their transfer budget to sign him.
The move will see Jovic earn £8.7m-a-year at the Bernabeu.
Due to a clause in the deal, Benfica will also receive ‘around £10.5m of the transfer fee.’
With a fee that high and decent wages, Karim Benzema will certainly have a fight on his hands to keep his spot in the team.
