Rangers’ Gareth McAuley vs West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic
There was a bizarre incident in the 77th minute at Windsor Park on Sunday night.
Northern Ireland took on Austria in the UEFA Nations League.
Rangers defender Gareth McAuley triggered West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic in a coming together.
McAuley was undoubtedly the transgressor as he strangled Arnautovic after the duo clashed for a high ball.
McAuley wrapped his arms around Arnautovic’s throat, which prevented the West Ham striker from getting up.
When Arnautovic eventually returned to his feet, players from both sides had to step in to stop the pair from clashing further.
After the game the Irons striker gave his thoughts on McAuley’s behaviour. Arnautovic said:
I’m not sure. He tried to choke me, or fight me. But it is not a good idea to fight me!
Marko Arnautovic sets up Austria’s winner vs Northern Ireland

All the goals came in the second half, beginning with Xaver Schlager’s opener in the 49th minute.

West Ham’s Arnautovic, who was only introduced off the bench in the 70th minute, teed up Austria’s winner.
Arnautovic fed a terrific pass to Valentino Lazaro, who in turn produced a stunning curler to win the match.
Marko Arnautovic on his West Ham future
After the match, Marko Arnautovic was asked about his ongoing future at West Ham.
The Irons striker rebuffed the question, saying:
I don’t want to talk about it. I am concentrated on West Ham.
We have a big game against Manchester City on Saturday and I am only thinking about this game and the following games and what is being said is not my business.
