Rangers bound? Frontrunner pulls out of talks for Norwich manager’s job

Frank Lampard has pulled out of the running to become the new manager of Premier League outfit Norwich City, according to reports.

The situation on the bench at Carrow Road has of course proven headline news in the media over the course of the week to date.

This comes with the Norwich board having come to the no doubt difficult decision to part ways with beloved boss Daniel Farke.

In altogether bizarre timing, on the back of the club’s first Premier League triumph of the campaign last weekend, the Canaries took to social media to confirm that Farke, after four years at the helm, had been sent on his way:

Speculation, in turn, has since been rampant regarding just who will be chosen as the man to lead Norwich into a new era, amid hopes of finally maintaining their status as a top-flight outfit, year on year.

And the last 72 hours had seen a clear front-runner emerge from the pack, in the form of ex-Chelsea and Derby County boss Frank Lampard.

Eyes on Ibrox

As outlined above, however, if the latest media speculation on Friday afternoon is anything to go by, then those of a Norwich persuasion hopeful of seeing Lampard take up the reins at the club over the coming weeks look set to be handed a considerable blow.

As per a whole host of reliable sources, the one-time English international, at the last minute, has opted to pull the plug on talks with the Canaries hierarchy.

Though an explanation for Lampard’s surprise decision has not yet been provided, one logical assumption would be that the 43-year-old is taking into consideration the post at Scottish champions Rangers.

The dugout at Ibrox is too now empty, on the back of Steven Gerrard’s decision to test his talents in the Premier League with Aston Villa.

And Lampard is one of a host of tacticians to have been tipped as a potential replacement for his former Three Lions teammate on the blue half of Glasgow.
