Ralph Hasenhuttl gives Southampton injury update ahead of Fulham

Southampton vs Fulham

Southampton take on Fulham this Wednesday in a huge ‘six-pointer’.

The Saints are currently embroiled in a relegation battle, sitting 18th in the Premier League.

They are, however, just one point behind 17th place Cardiff City.

Their opponents on Wednesday, Fulham, are 19th in the league and have won just four league games out of 27 this season.

Fulham also have the worst defensive record, letting in 61 goals in 27 games.

As a result, this is a must-win tie for Southampton if they want to stand any chance of surviving in the Premier League.

Southampton injury update

However, Southampton will have to face Fulham without several key players.

Their top scorer Danny Ings has missed Southampton’s last two league outings through injury and is unlikely to feature vs Fulham.

On Ings, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl stated:

“It doesn’t seem like it’s possible to play Danny Ings [against Fulham], the risk is too high.

“He isn’t training with the team at the moment.”

Southampton also look set to be without Mario Lemina for the key clash:

“Mario Lemina is not training with the squad but he’s working every day to return.”
