Ralph Hasenhuttl claims Man United celebrated win over Southampton ‘like they had won the Premier League’

Man United fight back

Sunday’s early Premier League tie saw Manchester United make the trip to St Mary’s.

The Red Devils headed into proceedings on the back of a three-game winning run across all competitions.

United had also proven considerably more successful away from home than at Old Trafford thus far this season, and, in turn, no doubt fancied their chances against the Saints.

Some questionable defending on the part of the visitors, combined with the brilliance of James Ward-Prowse, however, saw United head into the break two goals down.

The second 45, though, with Edinson Cavani introduced to the fray, saw the fortunes of the Red Devils change, resulting in a spectacular turnaround.

Cavani’s first key involvement saw him set up Bruno Fernandes on the hour mark.

The Uruguayan then levelled the scoring 74 minutes in, before an injury-time header saw United depart St. Mary’s with a 3-2 win:

United’s post-Southampton celebrations

Sunday’s win saw Man United move up to 8th in the Premier League table, with a top-four spot now in sight if the Reds can win their game in hand.

Following the clash, meanwhile, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl shed some light on just how much their latest 3-point haul actually meant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad:

The Austrian, during a post-match interview, revealed that United’s stars celebrated ‘like they had won the Premier League’:

“You can hear them (Man Utd) celebrating in their dressing room. You know what you have done today and how tough an opponent you have been because they were celebrating like they had won the Premier League.”
