Rafa Benitez tells Liverpool who Napoli’s danger-man is ahead of UCL clash

The ones to watch

Rafa Benitez has warned both his old sides who they need to watch out for ahead of the key Champions League game.

The Reds are taking on Napoli this week, and it’s winner takes all.

The group, which has been a tough one and also has PSG in it, will be decided in the final round of games.

Liverpool need to beat Napoli at Anfield, and it seems that Benitez thinks there are danger-men on either side.

He knows both sides well, and the man he pointed out from Napoli – Insigne – is someone who did well under him.

“I could say many players, both from Liverpool and Napoli. On the one hand Mane, Firmino, Sturridge; on the other Callejon, Mertens, Albiol, Koulibaly,” the Toon boss told Corriere delllo Sport.

“However, if I’m asked about one from each side then I’d say Salah and Insigne.”

A key game

Liverpool obviously want to progress in the Champions League.

To drop down to the Europa League would be a disaster on many levels.

Not only would it be embarrassing and a huge knock to their morale, it means they’d have to play on Thursday nights.

That makes it almost impossible to fight for the title.

Jurgen Klopp will be well aware of that, and teams who have been in the Europa League in the past have struggled in their domestic leagues.

This term, the title is the focus for Liverpool, and they’re leading the way at the top of the table.
