Rafa Benitez does not regret selling Aleksandar Mitrovic to Fulham

Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Fulham over the summer from Newcastle for a fee in the region of £18.18 million.

Mitrovic’s super start at Fulham

Since joining Fulham Mitrovic has been on top form.

The Serbian made his debut in Fulham’s first game back in the Premier League, which they lost 2-0.

However, Mitrovic would once again feature as Fulham took on Spurs.

Fulham did lose 3-1 but Mitrovic would open his account for Fulham.

Fulham then picked up their first win of the season as they beat Burnley 4-2, Mitrovic would score a brace.

Mitrovic would once again get on the score sheet for Fulham as they drew 2-2 with Brighton in their last game.

This gives Mitrovic four goals from four Premier League games.

It also makes him the joint top scorer in the league, alongside Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.

Due to Mitrovic doing so well for his new club, Rafa Benitez was asked if he regrets selling Mitrovic over the summer.

‘We have to make a decision in terms of what we needed and we knew what we needed’

Benitez responded:

“He is doing well, he did well for Serbia, but Rondon was doing well for Venezuela.

“Each player has his own environment and they can do well in one team and maybe not as well in the other one.

“We have to make a decision in terms of what we needed and we knew what we needed, that’s it, now we have to move forward.

“It does not change my decision. I have to carry on with Ayoze Perez, Joselu, Yoshinori Mutuo and Rondon, that’s it.”
