Quick thinking or outright cheating? Barcelona U16s net contentious goal vs Crystal Palace

The U16 team at Spanish giants Barcelona have piqued widespread attentions on Sunday, for less than positive reasons.

This comes owing to the Blaugrana’s actions during a meeting with their Crystal Palace counterparts, at a European youth competition.

The moment in question came about with Barca two goals to the good, and in cruise control.

After a member of the Catalans’ line-up went to ground with an alleged injury, Palace’s players made their way off the pitch for a team talk.

In frankly distasteful scenes, however, the former subsequently sprung back into action, the ‘injured’ player in question jumping to his feet, and quickly making his way to the sideline.

This opened the door for Barca’s goalkeeper to kickstart an attack, unleashing Shane Kluivert towards goal, all while Palace remained off the field of play.

Kluivert, son of Dutch legend Patrick, in turn, surged through unchallenged, before slotting into an empty net.

Not only that, but the Blaugrana’s stars showcased absolutely no shame in celebrating passionately, all while their opponents stood by, baffled by what had unfolded in front of them.
