While there is no doubt many people will have had bets on the Sheffield United vs Aston Villa game this weekend, one punter had more riding on the game than most.
Punter wins big on Villa United game
Aston Villa already had a solid squad last season which got them to a play-off final.
They have since added the likes of Yannick Bolasie to their ranks.
As a result, many people expect them to do very well in the Championship this season.
However, one Sky Bet punter did not share this opinion.
The Punter in question placed a £5 stake on a 2000/1 bet.
The bet required Sheffield United to win 4-1 and for Jack O’Connell to score first.
Aston Villa vs Sheffield United
Just six minutes into the game the bet in question was off to a great start as Jack O’Connell opened the scoring for The Blades.
Mark Duffy would then add United’s second in the 23rd minute.
Oliver Norwood would then make it 3-0 to Sheffield United just before half-time.
Then, just four minutes into the second half, Billy Sharp would score his 1st and United’s fourth of the game.
This meant that the 2000/1 bet simply needed one Aston Villa goal to win.
The Aston Villa goal would come in the 61st minute from Anwar El Ghazi.
However, given there was still around half an hour left to play, the punter in question must have been absolutely terrified.
Luckily though, the game would finish 4-1 to Sheffield United and the punter would win a whopping £10,005 from a five-pound bet.
After the game, Aston Villa sit 13th in the table whereas Sheffield United are in third place.
