PSV & Georginio Wijnaldum
It’s been widely reported in the English media on Thursday that Georginio Wijnaldum is leaving Newcastle to sign Liverpool.
The transfer is yet to be ratified by either club, however it is extremely unlikely that the deal won’t now happen.
According to reports, the Reds have shelled out £25 million on the 25-year-old.
Signed for £14.5 million last summer from PSV, Wijnaldum scored 11 times in the Premier League last term as the Magpies were relegated to the Championship.
It’s worth remembering Wijnaldum scored four EPL goals in one game against Norwich. Nevertheless, he scored more league goals last season than any player in the Reds squad.
PSV entitled to a pay-off
Dutch news outlet Telegraaf have got in contact with PSV to find out how the Wijnaldum sale will effect them.
It’s been confirmed by the Eredivisie outfit that they are entitled to a windfall from the Liverpool deal.
A spokesman for PSV told Telegraaf:
We can confirm that there is a resale rate, but we won’t comment on any further details.
Telegraaf believe PSV will pocket 5 million euros from the Newcastle-Liverpool deal.
