Meunier’s PSG stint
Thomas Meunier has been on PSG’s books since July of 2016, when he joined from Club Brugge.
The French powerhouse are believed to have paid in the region of £5.4m for the defender’s services.
In total, Meunier has featured in 110 games across all competitions for PSG, in which he has scored 13 and assisted 21.
The 2018/19 campaign was not the full-back’s best season, with Meunier having featured in just 22 of PSG’s 38 Ligue 1 ties.
Meunier on potential Everton move
Then, in the 2019 summer transfer window, it looked as though the Belgian could be on the move.
One of the clubs linked with a move for Meunier were Manchester United.
But no move would materialise for the 28-year-old, and he is still currently honing his craft at the Parc des Princes.
However, Meunier has since revealed that he could have signed for a Premier League team.
The side in question were Everton, but Meunier hinted that the fact that the Toffees aren’t playing European football may have put him off the move:
“There was interest and there have been conversations, but it never came to a point where I had to decide: Do I sign or not?
“I could have signed with Everton – a good club. I would have played a lot, that’s for sure, and had a lot of fun too.
“But Everton doesn’t play in European competition.” As quoted by the Mirror.
Meunier’s PSG contract is set to expire in July of 2020, so perhaps we could see the defender in the Premier League sometime soon.
