Man United vs PSG
On February 12 Man United will host PSG in their last-16 Champions League knockout match.
United will travel to the French capital on March 6 for the return leg.
When the draw for the Champions League was made, many thought Man United had pulled the short straw.
PSG topped their group ahead of Liverpool, while the Red Devils were labouring under Jose Mourinho.
However as we approach next week’s match, has the pendulum swung in Man United’s favour?
Reflecting the view over the English Channel, France Football have listed five problems for PSG before the Man United game.
PSG’s five big problems
France Football started with PSG’s Marco Verratti problem. The outlet claim the Italian has been “missing a lot” in recent matches.
It’s claimed that Verratti’s performances have been “sorely lacking” both in terms of his quality on the ball and his attitude.
Then there’s the Neymar problem. The Brazilian is out of the Man United tie due to injury, and that’s left PSG with issues up-top.
The Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani partnership failed to impress against Lyon last weekend. France Football report “Paris is devoid of a playmaker”.
Connected to Neymar’s absence are questions about PSG’s formation.
In the 2-1 defeat to Lyon, PSG played a 3-5-2 formation. But that didn’t click, leaving others to wonder if PSG should be playing 4-4-2 instead.
PSG’s final weakness before the Man United game is the club’s relationship with Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot is out of contract this summer and, having refused to sign a contract extension, he’s been frozen out of Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Most assumed Rabiot would leave Paris in the January transfer window, but that never happened.
France Football call for the 23-year-old’s recall asking “for a match like the one in Manchester United, isn’t Rabiot not the best choice?”
