Manchester United vs PSG
Today is the day the Champions League bursts back into life, with Man United hosting PSG in the last-16.
When the draw was made back in December, PSG were flying while Man United weren’t.
However Jose Mourinho was sacked a day after the Champions League draw, and momentum has been changing ever since.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned fortunes around at Old Trafford. Under the Norwegian United have 10 wins and a draw.
As for Thomas Tuchel’s PSG, things have gone from bad to worse in recent weeks.
Neymar is out, Edinson Cavani is out and Thomas Meunier is out as PSG’s squad has been significantly depleted.
PSG’s 4-2-3-1 / 3-4-3 formation
How will PSG line-up against Man United tonight?
In the latest prediction from L’Equipe, PSG are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 / 3-4-3 hybrid formation.
While Neymar and Cavani will be missing, Kylian Mbappe remains a potent threat in the Paris attack.
Angel Di Maria will play on the left side of the forward line, while Dani Alves is predicted to feature on the opposite flank.
For the record, Alves played in central midfield for PSG last weekend in a 1-0 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1.
Marco Verratti, who has only just returned from injury, is set to partner Marquinhos in the middle of the pitch.
Elsewhere, Julian Draxler will be given responsibility to create in the number 10 role.
In defence, Thilo Kehrer should step in a right-back, while PSG have doubts over their left-back slot. L’Equipe think that Juan Bernat will edge out Layvin Kurzawa.
PSG’s possible alternative formation
Le Parisien have suggested that PSG will play three at the back at Old Trafford.
Reportedly, in the final training session on Monday before the Man United game, Tuchel lined up his players with three defenders.
Thiago Silva, Thilo Kehrer and Presnel Kimpembe were training as a unit, while Bernat played down the left.
Down the right, Le Parisien suggest that either Stanley N’Soki or Colin Dagba may start vs United.
Le Parisien agree with L’Equipe that Dani Alves will play in a more attacking role for PSG.
How will Man United line-up?
Compared to PSG, Man United’s XI may be easier to predict.
Anthony Martial, after his super goal against Fulham, is expected to keep Alexis Sanchez out of the team.
Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard should complete the United attack.
At the back, the big question mark is over the availability of Victor Lindelof.
Lindelof could return to the team alongside Phil Jones at the heart of the United backline.
Ashley Young and Luke Shaw should fill the full-back slots.
