PSG 4 – Monaco 1
PSG affirmed their incredible dominance of the Coupe de la Ligue on Saturday night with a brilliant final win over Monaco.
Unai Emery’s side have been stunned by Monaco this season, much like the rest of Europe.
PSG lost in August to Monaco and drew at home in the league.
Leonardo Jardim’s side also have the edge in the Ligue 1 title race and with their exploits in Europe.
Draxler, Di Maria & Cavani x2
In the end, all of PSG’s biggest players turned up on the night after an explosive opening ceremony in Lyon.
Julian Draxler looks like one of the best ever January signings.
And, Angel Di Maria did not look like the player that struggled so badly with Argentina in Bolivia.
Edinson Cavani was the hero of the day, scoring twice for PSG – the third and fourth goals, which confirms an incredible season for the Uruguayan.
But arguably the star of the show, yet again, was the man that ran the show until he was taken off on 81 minutes.
What happened to Monaco?
Monaco did not really turn up and were somewhat blown away by the quality PSG do possess.
Thomas Lemar’s goal was pretty special in its own right but we have to conclude that Monaco missed Radamel Falcao.
And, perhaps Monaco are running out of steam, after a stunning season?
PSG win four in a row
It confirmed a seventh Coupe de la Ligue title for PSG, four in a row, which is pretty incredible.
Will it spark a PSG comeback in Ligue 1 as well, after the harrowing defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League?
