Au Revoir, Blanc
PSG have sacked Laurent Blanc, according to French paper L’Equipe.
The news has yet to be officially confirmed by the club, but according to L’Equipe the deed has done, and it’s set the Parisians back a few quid.
L’Equipe claim that PSG have had to pay Blanc off to the tune of 22m euro by way of compensation, as he was still under contract.
Blanc won 2 domestic trebles and the league title in his 3 seasons at the helm of PSG, but it’s his European record which has ultimately cost him his job.
Emery to take over?
Having shelled out hundreds of millions on squad investment, the Qatari owners have designs on winning the Champions League, but Blanc failed to get them beyond the quarter stages, despite some big wins over the likes of Chelsea in the earlier rounds.
Unai Emery now appears to be the favourite to succeed Blanc, and having just left Sevilla, he’s very much available.
