As per a report from Le Parisien this evening, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have backed out of negotiations with Arsenal over Chilean star Alexis Sanchez.
Reports had been growing over recent days that Sanchez could be set for a big-money switch to the Parc des Princes this summer, with sources in France insisting that the Chilean was spotted checking into a hotel in Paris on Friday night ahead of negotiations with the Ligue 1 club.
PSG are just one of a number of European giants who have been touted as a potential destination for the 28-year-old this summer, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City having also been heavily linked.
However, following Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger yesterday insisting that PSG’s interest in his side’s crown jewel stands as little more than ‘media speculation’, French outlet Le Parisien have today given their own account of proceedings.
While the newspaper insists that the French top-flight giants have been very much interested in Sanchez over the course of the summer so far, they have today divulged that the club’s widely-publicised chase of Barcelona superstar Neymar has left their bid for Sanchez on the back-burner.
The outlet even goes as far as to suggest that Sanchez ‘is not at all a priority’, also revealing that should Unai Emery’s men pull off the unexpected and secure Neymar’s signature, that they would completely drop their interest in Arsenal’s main man.
Finally, it has also been suggested that PSG’s transfer chiefs were not at all impressed by the ‘greedy’ representatives of Sanchez, with the capital club having been taken aback by the rumoured astronomical wage demands of the Chilean international.
