PSG attacker to take legal action against the club

Legal dispute

All is not well at Paris Saint-Germain. The French club is about to enter a legal battle with Hatem Ben Arfa over the way they’re treating the attacker. He’s been asked to train with the reserves and obviously isn’t happy about it.

ESPN report that his lawyer has contacted Ligue 1’s Committee on Legal Affairs to discuss the matter.

Ben Arfa hasn’t featured for the French giants this season. His dream move to the capital club didn’t work out well. He dazzled for Nice but couldn’t replicate that form under different conditions at the Parc des Princes.

L’Equipe quoted Ben Arfa’s lawyer, Jean-Jacques Bertrand, saying: “We demand that the club respects its obligations. There is a very clear regression in Hatem’s working conditions here.

“The method employed is designed to weigh on the mind of the individual.

“Each time they have informed Hatem by telephone after he left the training centre.

“It started in July with the [preseason] training camp in the United States. They asked for his passport at first and then let him know — by telephone — on the eve of the departure that he would not be going.

“This week they asked him to train with the reserves on Tuesday so as not to disrupt preparations for the match against Bayern. Hatem understood that.He returned this morning [Thursday] with the pros then — as he arrived home — they called him to say that he will be training with the reserves again tomorrow [Friday], without any explanation.

“What was presented as a temporary measure is, in fact, permanent in disguise.

“It’s a lack of respect for a staff member – a real freezing out.”

Infighting not an issue

The issues between Edinson Cavani and Neymar haven’t stopped PSG from smashing opponents on the pitch. The pair combined to great effect in the 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek.

In the game that would ultimately lead to the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, Dani Alves opened the scoring inside two minutes. Neymar was brilliant in the build-up to that goal, supplying the killer pass.

Cavani doubled their lead shortly after the half-hour mark with a brilliant first-time shot. Much was made of the fact that Neymar chose to celebrate that goal with Kylian Mbappe rather than the goalscorer.

Mbappe was destroying the Bayern defence before Neymar scored from close range to wrap up the win.
