Abdoulaye Doucoure linked with a major move away from Watford to PSG
After some excellent performances at Watford over the last few seasons, Abdoulaye Doucoure has attracted the interest of one of the giant Champions League clubs: PSG.
Paris United, a local source of PSG news, grabbed everyone’s attention when they reported that Neymar would leave Barcelona for the Ligue 1 champions two summers ago.
Having established themselves as an authority on PSG transfer news, Paris United should be trusted.
On Boxing Day, Paris United claim that PSG have agreed personal terms with Doucoure and are keen to seal a move for the Watford midfielder in the January transfer window.
Doucoure will not push for a move from Watford
PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has targeted a physical presence in midfield for the January window and sees Doucoure as a good fit.
Whilst Doucoure is excited to join PSG, he will not push for a move from Watford, according to Paris United.
Everton are also keen on Doucoure and this rumour could have been instigated thanks to PSG’s reported interest in Idrissa Gueye.
Watford have in mind two possible replacements if Doucoure does leave for PSG: Szymon Zurkowski (Górnik Zabrze) and Philip Billing (Huddersfield).
Watford reject first offer from PSG for Doucoure
Paris United claim PSG’s first offer for Doucoure was around 33 million euros.
It is believed that Watford are holding out for 50 million euros for their player, who is contracted to the club until 2023.
When contacted by Paris United, Watford owner Gino Pozzo said “do not expect to see this player leave immediately.”
Doucoure is expected to start for Watford when they take on Chelsea in the Premier League this evening.
