Premier League’s best player? Salah claims mount once more following dazzling display vs Man City

Viewers of the showdown between Liverpool and Manchester City this evening have taken to social media in their absolute numbers, to react to the latest stunning goal, and overall display, on the part of Mohamed Salah.

De Bruyne has the last laugh

The weekend’s marquee Premier League fixture of course played out a short time ago.

The matchup in question saw Liverpool welcome champions Man City to Anfield, for a top-of-the-table clash.

Both sides headed into proceedings aware that a 3-point haul would guide them clear of Chelsea at the division’s summit, to take an early advantage into the international break.

When all was said and done, however, the title-winners of the last two seasons could not be separated.

A captivating 90 minutes on Merseyside ultimately played out into a 2-2 stalemate, courtesy of one of the games (or more specifically halves) of the Premier League season.

After Sadio Mane opened the scoring on the hour mark, City soon hit back, courtesy of a pinpoint effort from the superb Phil Foden:

Liverpool, though, soon regained the advantage once more, and in absolutely breathtaking fashion.

After picking the ball up on the edge of the visitors’ area, Mohamed Salah somehow managed to dance his way beyond no fewer than three City defenders, to pick out the far corner with aplomb:

But Pep Guardiola’s Citizens simply refused to accept defeat.

This eventually resulted in Kevin De Bruyne restoring parity yet again just inside the closing ten minutes at Anfield, driving home a left-footed effort from 18 yards, with more than a little help from a Joel Matip deflection.

Salah the Prem’s best?

As outlined above, though, despite a pulsating 2nd-half, and a whole host of starring performances, it is the name of one man which has firmly stolen the headlines on Sunday evening.

The player in question? Mohamed Salah.

Egyptian wide-man Salah was at his brilliant best once again versus City, looking a threat each and every time he got on the ball, courtesy of touch, pace and sheer directness.

In turn, it came as little surprise when it was he who teed up Sadio Mane’s opener with an inch-perfect pass.

Salah wasn’t done there, though, adding his own name to the scoresheet a short time later with a genuine contender for Goal of the Season.

And viewers of this evening’s action have, as a result, not been at all shy in making their opinions heard across social media, amid widespread claims that the ex-Roma man, once more, has established himself as the Premier League’s best player:
