‘Disgraceful’ Porto fans slammed following minute’s silence for Davide Astori

Droves of angered fans have taken to social media this evening to take aim at the contingent of Porto fans who travelled to Merseyside for their side’s clash with Liverpool, after sections of the visiting support shouted and jeered during a pre-match minute’s silence for the late Davide Astori.

The two sides are currently locked in action at Anfield, with Liverpool having absolutely blitzed the Portuguese giants in the first-leg between the sides 3 weeks ago.

The brilliant trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane did the damage on the day, with the latter having added gloss to the scoreline with his hat-trick sealing strike in the 85th-minute.

The Reds have since secured further victories over West Ham (4-1) and most recently, Newcastle (2-0).

Porto, meanwhile, have won 4 games on the bounce since their dismal showing at the Estádio do Dragão on the 14th of February, the latest of which came last Friday versus fierce rivals Sporting CP.

The football world is still in mourning today, following the shock news that Fiorentina captain and Italian international Davide Astori had passed away in his sleep on Sunday night.

All of the Serie A fixtures due to be played out on Sunday were subsequently cancelled, with tributes have since poured in for the talented central defender:

It was announced by UEFA yesterday that a minute’s silence would be held ahead of all Champions League kick-offs this week, in respect to the late Astori and his family.

This minute’s silence was subsequently held at both Anfield and the Parc des Princes this evening, with fans having since taken to Twitter to express their absolute shock at the actions of a small section of Porto’s fans, who refused to remain silent:

(It should be noted that the crowd at the Parc des Princes were also forced to break out into applause due to whistling and jeering inside the stadium during their own minute’s silence for Astori).
