Pokemon GO

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Pokemon GO is the latest epidemic taking over the world. The cartoon has had its popular video game revived by Nintendo and people are going crazy. Adults and children alike. Each to their own.

However, this writer has to admit that he’s more Marcel Schmelzer than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when it comes to Pikachu and the lads. The German full-back posted a picture of his teammates on Twitter today outing their addiction. At least they weren’t playing with traffic while hunting a Squirtle. They were searching from the safety of the team bus. Team bonding, 2016 style.

Passing Fad

Schmelzer (28) is an experienced full-back who has spent eight years in the Dortmund first team since being promoted from the club’s academy. He’s probably seen trends like this come and go in the last few seasons.

Three years ago, Robert Lewandowski was probably tending to his virtual plants or pretending to be an angry bird.
