Mino Raiola speaks to the Mail

Super-agent Mino Raiola sat down with the Daily Mail this weekend for an extensive and exclusive interview.

The agent of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku (and many, many more) now wields an incredible amount of control over the Premier League.

In fact, you could argue that he’s basically running Manchester United these days, having engineered the transfers of three players to Old Trafford this summer.

Raiola is believed to have pocketed 30m pounds in commission for all the deals he struck this summer, and he could soon overtake Jorge Mendes as the most powerful agent in world football.

‘Do Arsenal have the balls?’

An experienced veteran at this stage (Raiola used to represent Juventus legend Pavel Nedved), he’s developed varying relationships with clubs throughout Europe.

He’s had a checkered relationship with Manchester United; Sir Alex Ferguson infamously said Raiola was the one agent he never trusted after Pogba’s departure from United, but Raiola’s relationship with United seems to have been smoothed over this summer.

One club he’s had little or no dealings with is Arsenal, and Raiola thinks he knows why.

Raiola likes dealing in big cash money, and he thinks that Arsenal maybe lack ‘the ball’s to spend big, despite having big sums of cash reserves:

‘It’s not just a case of spending the money.

‘It’s shouldering the responsibility of spending that money and saying, “yes, this is my man’’. Arsenal have the money but do they have the balls?

‘I respect Arsene Wenger. He has a philosophy that says these figures don’t match what I want to do, so that’s OK. Real Madrid? The will of Zinedine Zidane was strong but we were not sure it was the will of the club.
