One former Premier League star has revealed who he could see Ross Barkley replacing in the Chelsea team after his £15million move today.
The English starlet has spent almost the entirety of his career at Everton but has recently refused to sign a new deal at the club.
This came after clashes with Ronald Koeman but even after his departure, Barkley had made the decision to leave his boyhood club.
Chelsea actually came close to signing the player in a £35million deal on deadline day in the summer but the player pulled out of a deal.
That is now looking likely to cost Everton £20million with the new fee said to be £15million when he is announced as a Chelsea player later.
Though, his move had begged the question of where he will fit into the side and former Man United defender Danny Higginbotham has named the player he could replace, even two.
Those players are Cesc Fabregas and Tiémoué Bakayoko.
“You’re always going to have Kante there sitting and dependant on the toughness of the game, you can play a more defensive midfielder in Bakayoko or you could have a Fabregas or a Barkley in there,” he explained.
“So it’s options for him but I think if he goes there and shows his worth then there’s no reason why he won’t be playing in that team.”
Details of the deal
It was a deal that shocked many after coming out of the blue on Thursday evening.
Although the Englishman was expected to move, details emerged over only 24 hours before a deal was done.
Now, the player is set for a big move to London in an attempt to break the big time.
