Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provides update on Arsenal future after breaking club record vs Norwich

After netting a brace in his side’s drubbing of Norwich City this evening, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has spoken out over his future at Arsenal.

Gunners dominant

Mikel Arteta’s men welcomed Premier League basement-dwellers Norwich to the Emirates a short time ago, for the club’s latest league outing.

The hosts headed into proceedings brimming with confidence, on the back of a much-needed upturn in form over the last week.

After falling to defeats in their first 2 outings following the return of English football last month, Arsenal bounced back, with consecutive wins over Southampton and Sheffield United.

And, when all was said and done this evening, the north Londoners’ resurgence continued.

A dominant display eventually saw goals from all of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2), Granit Xhaka and debutant Cedric Soares guide Arsenal to a 4-0 victory:

Auba update

While a number of Arsenal’s stars evidently impressed versus Norwich today, the Gunners’ star man, as has been the case so often this season, was undoubtedly Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese hitman was in fine form throughout proceedings at the Emirates, and, as well as bagging a brace, also set up Granit Xhaka for the hosts’ 2nd of the day.

It was Aubameyang’s first strike, which saw the former Dortmund man rob Tim Krul of possession before slotting into an empty net, though, which has resulted in his name being etched into the history books of Arsenal.

This finish took Auba’s Premier League goal tally to 50, in just 79 appearances.

And, as showcased below, this marks the fastest that any Gunners star has ever reached the half-century mark during the Premier League era:

Speaking in a post-match interview on the back of his historic achievement, meanwhile, Arsenal’s star striker was inevitably drawn on his future in north London.

With just a year remaining on his current contract, fans of the north Londoners have long been forced to sweat over the possibility of Aubameyang seeking pastures new over the coming months.

The 31-year-old, though, again opted to keep the Gunners faithful guessing with his latest update, explaining:

‘I’m really happy that Bukayo (Saka) signed da ting.’

‘We’ll see. We’ll talk with the club and see what happens. I’m really focused on the games. Since Mikel is in we’re doing well. We’re working well. We have signs we’re improving.’
