Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang offers damning verdict on Arsenal’s performance against Crystal Palace

Arsenal salvage late point against Crystal Palace

Patrick Vieira was denied a dream return to Arsenal by a stoppage-time Alexandre Lacazette equaliser as Arsenal snatched an undeserved draw from the jaws of defeat.

Coming into the game unbeaten in 4, the Gunners took an early lead when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired in after Nicolas Pepe’s initial shot had been saved by Guaita, and it seemed as though the Gunners would add to their tally.

However, at 1-0 up Mikel Arteta’s side switched off, and allowed Palace back into the game, an opportunity which they pounced on twice in the second half to take a 2-1 lead into the dying stages. The introduction of Lacazette improved the tempo of the Gunners, and it was the Frenchman who ultimately found the equaliser, turning home after Ben White had a shot saved.

Nevertheless, it proved a disappointing night for Arsenal and their fans, who saw Arteta schooled by fan favourite Vieira, just three months into the job at Selhurst Park.

Aubameyang offers damning verdict

Taking to Instagram after the game, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang offered his verdict on the encounter, and it safe to say he was not best pleased. The Arsenal captain wrote:

“Not enough for a home game. We stopped playing after the first goal but we didn’t give up & fought till the end.”

However, he reserved special praise for Lacazette, who came on and salvaged a point for the Gunners, continuing:

“Big help from the guys that came in. @LacazetteAlex well deserved my bro. We go again”

No European football means that Arsenal are back in Premier League action in just three days, as they host Aston Villa at The Emirates Stadium to kick off the ninth round of Premier League matches.

Both the fans and the players will be hoping for a much better showing, and result, than they had against the Eagles.
