Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang named Arsenal’s 2019/20 Player of the Season

Arsenal’s 2019/20

Arsenal’s 2019/20 campaign proved something of a mixed bag.

The Gunners started the season in pretty poor fashion, leading to Unai Emery being sacked in November.

And after a brief spell with Freddie Ljungberg as interim boss, Mikel Arteta was officially appointed the north Londoners’ new manager in December.

Whilst Arteta previously had no managerial experience to his name, though, the Spaniard was still able to turn Arsenal’s season around somewhat.

Arteta certainly improved the Gunners’ backline, and also handed a number of youngsters the chance to impress.

The former Manchester City coach even picked up some big wins over the likes of the Sky Blues and Liverpool.

And though Arteta only managed to guide Arsenal to an 8th-placed Premier League finish, they nevertheless managed to secure Europa League football for next season, courtesy of the club’s FA Cup triumph.

Aubameyang scoops award

One man who was instrumental in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph, and pretty much everything positive they managed this season, was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The forward, of course, scored a brace vs Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

In the league, meanwhile, Aubameyang managed 22 goals and three assists in 36 appearances – missing out on the Golden Boot by a single goal.

Aubameyang will not end the season without picking up an individual accolade, though.

The Gunners began to announce their Player of the Season results earlier this week, with 2nd and 3rd having gone to Bernd Leno and Bukayo Saka respectively.

And now, on Saturday, Arsenal have officially named their 2019/20 Player of the Season.

Unsurprisingly, Aubameyang is the man who will take home the award, after racking up a staggering 74 per cent of the vote.
