Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang benched pre-Norwich

When it came to the Arsenal players who dropped out of the team, the biggest name was star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang has yet to find the target since football returned, however the attacker has looked sharp in recent games.

Arteta’s decision to bench Aubameyang appeared to be a tactical choice to give his forward some rest before the upcoming league game against Norwich.

Was it smart of Arteta to prioritise Norwich above Sheffield United in the cup?

Arteta’s other changes included leaving Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, Dani Ceballos and Eddie Nketiah on the subs bench.

Mesut Ozil out vs Sheffield United as back problems resurface

Once again, Mesut Ozil was left out of the Arsenal matchday squad for the Sheffield United game.

Arsenal confirmed that Ozil missed the FA Cup tie with a back injury.

Ozil has a long history of back problems in north London.

Back in 2018, during another Ozil back injury spell, the German was accused of playing Fortnite for five hours a day.

No spot for Matteo Guendouzi

French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi was also left out of the Arsenal squad for the match against the Blades.

Guendouzi has come in for criticism recently after his antics in the defeat to Brighton.
