Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacts to Super League furore with furious message, before deleting Twitter

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken centre stage on social media this evening, after opting to deactivate his Twitter account, on the back of the outpour of emotion surrounding the European Super League.

Barca & more drop out

The story surrounding the ESL’s imminent implosion has of course grabbed headlines across the globe on Tuesday night.

This comes after a host of the founding members involved in the competition’s establishment opted to pull out.

To this point, reports have pointed towards all of Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as having confirmed their departures.

Such moves have come on the back of a swift and venomous backlash against the proposal, which would have seen a ‘closed shop’ system put in place, whereby all 12 founding outfits were assured of their spot in the competition year on year.

In turn, protests broke out across the United Kingdom over the last 24 hours, with those at Stamford Bridge this evening having been met with widespread praise on the part of opposing fans:

As outlined above, though, one individual who was evidently left unimpressed by the furore surrounding the Super League’s potential implementation is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the Arsenal captain posted a furious message, revealing his disgust with the rapid response to the ESL situation, compared to pressing subjects like Covid-19 and racism.

In turn, the Gabonese has opted to deactivate his account, in protest against football’s skewed priorities:
