Philippe Coutinho v Jurgen Klopp
Just before the international break, Liverpool beat West Ham 4-1 in the Premier League.
Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah was the hero for the Reds scoring twice in London.
Joel Matip and Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain chipped in with the other two Liverpool goals.
Aside from the result, the match was awesome for Liverpool as it saw Sadio Mane mark his return from injury.
But Liverpool were still not at full attacking strength as Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho was missing.
Coutinho was sidelined with a thigh injury, however that didn’t stop the South American joining up with his national team during the international break.
Brazil take on England at Wembley this week and, according to the Mirror on Sunday, “Philippe Coutinho is prepared to risk the wrath of Jurgen Klopp by declaring himself fit.”
Coutinho sat out last week’s 3-1 win over Japan.
Liverpool take on Southampton next weekend in the Premier League. Will Coutinho start for the Reds?
Coutinho & Barcelona
Of course, in the background to any Coutinho update lurk FC Barcelona.
Barcelona made it crystal clear in the summer that they wanted to sign the Anfield star, and recent months have failed to suggest that the Catalans’ interest has waned.
Indeed, just last week Luis Suarez was talking about Coutinho in the Spanish media.
Rumours that Coutinho is heading to the Camp Nou were stepped up this weekend as it was claimed the Liverpool star is already house hunting in Spain.
Having already lived in Catalonia during his time at Espanyol, Coutinho is familiar to the region.
And the rumours are that Coutinho’s representatives are already checking out future properties ahead of a Barcelona move.
