The new Neville
The Neville family has a rich sporting history. Brothers Gary and Phil played for Manchester United and England. Their sister Tracey was a top class Netball player while father Neville (yes, Neville Neville) was a cricketer.
Now a new name could be joining that illustrious list of Nevilles who have excelled in sport. There’s a buzz around Phil’s son Harvey. The 14-year-old is currently attached to Valencia and being called ‘the new David Beckham’.
Beckham was famous for the quality of his right foot and Harvey has been receiving praise for his crossing too.
Of course, the Beckham comparison might have a touch of bias to it.
He is, after all, a close friend of the Neville family.
Nevertheless, Harvey, who ended up at Valencia after his dad and uncle had a brief and unsuccessful coaching stint at the club, is being courted by Manchester United and Tottenham, according to Super Deporte.
United and Spurs pride themselves on their youth set-ups and have set up extensive scouting networks to find the best talent at home and abroad. Harvey would find it hard to resist following in the Neville tradition at Old Trafford.
Other United business
Jose Mourinho can be happy with how the summer transfer window went for United. They got nearly all of their targets and it’s led to a brilliant start to the Premier League season for the Red Devils.
Joint-top with Manchester City, United have been scoring goals for fun with new recruit Romelu Lukaku currently top of the league’s scoring charts. Further signings could be made in the January transfer window.
