PerezOut trends across Twitter following Real Madrid’s 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad

The calls for Real Madrid President Florentino Perez to step down from his post have picked up pace tonight, following Los Blancos’ shock 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad

The European champions welcomed Imanol Alguacil’s men to the Bernabeu for a La Liga clash.

Real headed into proceedings hoping for an immediate bounce-back performance, after slipping further behind Barcelona in the Spanish top-flight table following a 2-2 draw with Villarreal during the week.

Before kick-off this evening, Santi Solari’s men sat 7 points adrift of La Liga table-toppers Barca, with Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and, incredibly, Alaves having made up the remainder of the top-4, ahead of Real in 5th.

As such, the capital giants were no doubt well aware that nothing other than a 3-point haul tonight would suffice.

Madrid put to the sword

In the end, though, not only did Real fail to pick up all 3 points, but couldn’t even manage to secure 1.

For the umpteenth time this season, Los Merengues looked an absolute shell of their once-great selves, eventually falling to a 2-0 defeat.

Willian Jose put visitors Sociedad in front from the penalty spot with just 3 minutes on the clock:

And things only got worse for the hosts on the hour mark, when Lucas Vazquez was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.

Real huffed and puffed over the game’s remaining half-hour, but, in the end, saw their efforts prove fruitless, with Ruben Pardo having sealed the victory for Sociedad with his side’s 2nd in the 83rd-minute:

Perez slammed

And the fallout from Real’s latest blow has since been immediate across social media.

Fans of the Champions League holders have taken to Twitter in their numbers to call for instantaneous change at the club.

While many feel as though manager Santiago Solari should be the first to go, the majority have directed their anger in the direction of Blancos’ President Florentino Perez, with the hashtag #PerezOut having quickly gathered pace online tonight:
