Man City edge past Sheffield Wednesday
Manchester City continued their defence of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Citizens won both domestic cups last term, and after once again securing the League Cup this past weekend, they now have their eyes on the FA Cup.
Standing in City’s way in the 5th round were Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.
To their credit, the Owls held their own for the majority of Wednesday’s clash, and only ended up losing the tie 1-0.
Sergio Aguero would once again come up clutch for the Sky Blues, breaking the deadlock after 53 minutes.

De Bruyne a doubt for Man United
City’s matchday squad vs Sheffield Wednesday was fairly strong.
However, there was one very notable omission from the 18. That man was Kevin De Bruyne.
In the wake of his side’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday, Pep Guardiola provided an explanation for KDB’s absence, stating that he had a problem with his shoulder, and wasn’t fit.
“Kevin had a problem here [points to shoulder]. He was not fit.
“In the last game, the last minutes he fell down in a bad position and had a problem in his back. We don’t know how long [he will be out]. Hopefully not much.”
Whilst City probably didn’t need the Belgian’s services on Wednesday, they will likely want to call upon him this Sunday vs their bitter rivals, Manchester United.
City will travel to Old Trafford in Sunday’s late Premier League kick-off.
However, when Pep was asked if De Bruyne would be fit for the Manchester derby, the Spaniard replied:
“I don’t know.”
