Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given Benjamin Mendy a half-hearted slap on the wrist over his social media habits.
The Frenchman spent most of his debut season recovering from a long-term injury but he is back in the squad now.
He played in today’s 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates and looked solid during the game.
Though, while he is no doubt a top player, he is well known for his social media antics.
That was a talking point after the game and Pep Guardiola admitted that it drives him mad sometimes.
Speaking about the game, Guardiola explained that the French defender has a lot of things he can improve on.
However, he must ‘forget a little bit of the social media’ to do that.
“Mendy is Mendy,” Pep explained in his press conference.
“Sometimes we want to kill him and sometimes you think wow what a player we have. He gives us energy.
“Mendy has a lot of things to improve and hopefully we can convince him to forget a little bit the social media and improve a few things.”
Guardiola also praised his team for the way they coped with a tough test like Arsenal away.
“I think going away to the Emirates is always so complicated,” he continued.
“Especially in the first game when Arsenal have a new manager.
“We played a high level considering the lack of physical condition for many of the players who arrived back lack after the World Cup.
“Our performance was good but this is just the first step so we keep going.”
