Pep Guardiola gives update on Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Man United

Man United vs Man City

The biggest game of this weekend’s Premier League action comes in the form of a Manchester derby.

Manchester City will make the trip to Old Trafford for Sunday’s late Premier League kick-off, as they look to exact some revenge on their crosstown-rivals.

The Reds Devils would pick up a 2-1 win over City in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

The two sides would also face off in the League Cup semi-final, with City and United picking up a win each. City would, of course, win the semi-final over two legs, and go on to clinch yet another League Cup trophy.

This game is somewhat less significant to the Sky Blues, though, as their hopes of retaining the PL are all but over.

However, they will no doubt still be keen to get one over on their neighbours.

Guardiola gives Kevin De Bruyne update

Pep Guardiola would hold his pre-Man United press conference on Friday afternoon.

During the presser, the Spaniard gave an update on Kevin De Bruyne.

KDB was omitted from City’s matchday squad vs Birmingham earlier this week, with Guardiola confirming after the tie that the Belgian had a shoulder issue. Pep was also unsure if De Bruyne would be fit for Sunday’s game.

Guardiola has since, on Friday, stated that City’s midfield maestro is getting better. But Pep didn’t confirm if he would feature on Sunday, simply stating, ‘we will see’:

“He is getting better.

“Today we didn’t train and tomorrow he will improve. This morning he was with the physio and he said he feels better. Not perfect, but he feels better. We will see.”

The Spanish tactician also offered a fresh update on Leroy Sane:

“He is making big progress but still he’s not 100% fit.

“He has to be ready and fit to play official games right now.

“Maybe that will be good [more EDS games]. I think weeks and games will be good.

“He will feel it first himself because every week he is getting better and after I will try to give him minutes to get back as soon as possible. But, for this game, no.”
