Pep Guardiola gives Aymeric Laporte update ahead of Man United

Manchester City 4-Fulham 0

Manchester City continued their defense of the FA Cup with a comfortable win in the 4th round on Sunday.

The competition’s current holders welcomed Championship outfit Fulham to the Etihad.

Scott Parker’s side have been in pretty solid form this term, and could well be set for a swift return to the English top-flight.

However, their clash with City got off to a nightmare start, as Tim Ream was sent off just six minutes into the game after bringing down Gabriel Jesus in the box.

Ilkay Gundogan stepped up to convert the ensuing penalty, and from there, the Sky Blues dominated the tie.

A Gabriel Jesus brace and Bernardo Silva strike followed, seeing Man City emerge from the clash with a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

Guardiola on Laporte ahead of Manchester United

Man City must now turn their attentions to their League Cup semi-final clash.

City will welcome bitter rivals Manchester United to the Etihad on Wednesday for the second-leg of the semi-final.

Guardiola’s side dominated United in the reverse fixture, emerging with a 3-1 victory.

And while it does look as though Man City will once again be in a LC final, they will likely want to field a strong eleven to ensure victory.

One key player that the City faithful should want to start on Wednesday is Aymeric Laporte.

The Frenchman recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but he was completely omitted from Man City’s matchday squad on Sunday:

After the Fulham clash, Pep Guardiola would provide an update on Laporte.

The City boss stated that they will not take risks with the centre-back, but he could play against Man United if he is okay:
