Pep Guardiola comments on Erling Haaland rumours and Sergio Aguero
Leicester City vs Manchester City
Manchester City travel to Leicester tomorrow evening in what is arguably the game of the weekend, as the Premier League returns.
Whilst City sit top of the league and are still on course for a historic treble, Leicester themselves are enjoying a fine season. With an FA Cup semi-final coming up against Southampton, they are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Premier League, 5 points ahead of Chelsea in 4th.
It’s been a busy week of news for Manchester City with the club linked to Erling Haaland and also the confirmation that their record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero, is to leave at the end of the season. Such is his standing at the club, they have already announced that they will produce a statue in his honor at the Etihad.
During his press conference, today Pep Guardiola addressed both topics.
On the Haaland rumours he said he doesn’t think the club has the resources to finance a deal.
PEP 💬 With these prices we will not buy any striker. It’s impossible. We will not afford it. All the clubs struggle. We are not an exception.
I don’t know what is going to happen. Today, there is more chance we will not buy a striker next season.

Impossible to replace

On Sergio Aguero, Guardiola acknowledged how difficult it will be to replace the Argentinian superstar, who has been at the club for a decade.
PEP 💬 We know how important a player (Aguero) is in the present and the past. These decisions are never easy.
It’s almost impossible to replace (in terms of numbers). But in terms of what he means to this Club, we cannot replace.

Both parties will be hoping that the season ends in spectacular glory to further cement their histories at the Etihad.
