Pep Clotet assures Man United-linked Jude Bellingham ‘only thinking about Birmingham City’

Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet this morning moved to quell the speculation surrounding the future of Jude Bellingham, as the starlet continues to be tipped for a big-money summer departure.

Blues prodigy

Bellingham, a 16-year-old midfielder, came up through Birmingham’s youth ranks.

The English youth international had been viewed as one of the finest talents on the books at St. Andrew’s for some time, eventually resulting in Bellingham, despite his tender years, being introduced to the club’s first-team setup ahead of the current campaign.

And to say that the teen has since gone on to impress at senior level would be putting it lightly.

Incredibly, Bellingham has featured in all but 5 of Birmingham’s 37 Championship fixtures to this point in the campaign.

The midfielder has even chipped in with 4 goals and 2 assists across these appearances.

Man United interest

As such, Bellingham’s impressive, but above all mature displays at the heart of the Blues’ midfield this season have inevitably resulted in speculation of late that he has been added to the respective wishlists of a number of English football’s giants.

Chief among these clubs have been Manchester United, with reports during the winter transfer window having gone as far as to suggest that the Red Devils had tabled a £25 million bid for the youngster:

Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, have also been named as keen admirers of Bellingham.

‘Only thinking about Birmingham’

As such, as his side’s crown jewel continues to be tipped for a move elsewhere this summer, Birmingham boss Pep Clotet this morning provided a brief update on Bellingham’s future.

The Spanish tactician, though, was quick to assure that, as far as he is concerned, the teenage talent ‘is only thinking about Birmingham City’.

Speaking to reporters, Clotet explained:

‘I always thought he is very mature and very focused – but he has to be.’

‘Because he cannot be thinking about other things than Birmingham City – and I am sure he is only thinking about Birmingham City.’

‘That’s the feeling I get from him, when I speak to him and work with him.’
