Paul Scholes admits Man United’s Bruno Fernandes is better than he was
Fernandes starring
It is fair to say that Bruno Fernandes has proven himself to be one of the best signings in recent Premier League history.
The Portuguese arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP this past January, and has since gone on to completely dominate the English top-flight.
Fernandes, of course, played a key role in Manchester United securing a Champions League berth last term.
Suggesting that the Red Devils have looked like something of a one-man team over the early months of the new season, meanwhile, wouldn’t be too far wide of the mark.
In total, Fernandes has netted 14 and assisted eight in 22 outings across all competitions this term.
The latest of his strikes marked a key one in United’s 2-2 draw with top-four rivals Leicester City over the weekend:

The former Sporting standout has also secured a staggering five Player of the Month awards for Man United in less than a year.
Scholes on Fernandes
On the back of such a sensational start to life in England, a case could already be made that Fernandes stands as one of the best signings in Premier League history.
The Portuguese, if he continues to produce at his current rate, will also likely pick up this season’s Player of the Season award.
And now, in turn, Fernandes has earned some high praise from a Man United legend.
The former Red Devil in question is Paul Scholes, widely considered to be one of the club’s best ever midfielders.
Scholes, though, has revealed his opinion that Fernandes is already proving himself to be a better player than the ex-English international ever was:
“What he’s doing is phenomenal, really.
“I think if you look, since he’s been [here], United would be top of the league if they won their game in hand, with more points than Liverpool, which is strange to think really because they’ve had such a bad start to the season.
“Well, you thought it was a bad start to the season, but they’re still right in there and I think they can only get better. The numbers he’s produced are just ridiculous; let’s hope he carries on.
“He’s better than me. He’s different to me. He scores more goals than me, he creates more goals than me.”
