Manchester United and Southampton would face off at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils headed into the game aiming to carry forth their fine start to the season, after smashing Leeds United last time out.

However, things did not get off to a great start for United on the south coast. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side looked fairly disjointed in the opening 45, with Fred, in particular, having looked lost.

And it was the Brazilian who ultimately helped Southampton to open the scoring, deflecting Che Adams’ effort past David de Gea:

The second 45, however, proved much better from a Man United perspective.

The visitors dominated proceedings, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes looking especially threatening.

The Reds’ dominance was then rewarded after 55 minutes, when Pogba poked the ball into the path of Mason Greenwood, who drew his side level:

On the back of Greenwood’s strike, meanwhile, it has been revealed that Paul Pogba has now set a Premier League record.

As per Opta, the Frenchman – who assisted four goals for Man United vs Leeds last week – is the first player in Premier League history to register five assists after his team’s first two games of a single season:
