Paul Pogba has aimed a subtle dig at Manchester United after his move to Juventus.

Pogba re-joined Manchester United from Juventus in 2016 for a staggering £89m, which at the time made him the league’s most expensive signing.

However, barring a bright spot at the end of 2018/19 when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took charge of United, Pogba has failed to come close to matching his price-tag in any way.

As well as underperforming on the pitch, Pogba was also believed to have causes some issues behind the scenes, with Jose Mourinho labelling the midfielder a virus whilst he was in charge of the club.

Now, after his contract at Old Trafford expired on June 30th, Pogba has recently returned to Juventus as they were one of the only clubs who wanted to sign him and could afford his wages.

It is believed that Pogba wanted a €20m yearly salary from Manchester United, but the club offered €14m. However, Pogba was confident Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG wanted him on a free, but no offers arrived and he had to settle for €8m a year from Juventus.

Regardless, Pogba has been speaking about returning to Turin, stating that he wants to rediscover the joy of playing football:

“I want to rediscover my joy of playing football,” said Pogba.

“I spoke to [Massimiliano] Allegri, [Paulo] Dybala, [Juan] Cuadrado, [Andrea] Agnelli and [Pavel] Nedved, so I was always really in contact with all of Juve.

“My heart decided for me and I am sure that I made the right decision. “This jersey is everything for me, Juventus gave me the opportunity to be Pogba. Now I want to give back that joy, bringing trophies to a club that deserves only to win.”
