Paris Saint-Germain vs Borussia Dortmund prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have a slender but crucial advantage following their first-leg victory.

PSG are unbeaten in their last 13 matches at home in all competitions, but the Champions League provides an entirely different challenge.

Similarly, Dortmund head into the match in superb form, although they have lost three of their last four away matches in the competition.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Borussia Dortmund: Who will win?

PSG are 3/4 favourites to win the match while Borussia Dortmund are 3/1 to win. The draw is priced at 16/5.

Dortmund’s win in the first leg means they are 7/10 favourites to qualify while PSG are priced at 21/20 to reach the next round.

There have been three or more goals scored in 26 of Paris Saint-Germain’s last 30 Champions League matches. Bet on over 2.5 goals at 4/11.

Erling Haaland has scored 10 goals in 7 Champions League appearances. Haaland is 9/2 to open the scoring and 20/21 to score anytime.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Borussia Dortmund Champions League match preview

Aggregate: PSG 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

PSG host Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

The match will be played behind closed doors for safety reasons amid the Corona virus outbreak.

Borussia Dortmund won the first leg 2-1 at the DescriptionWestfalenstadion in February. Erling Haaland scored two second-half goals, either side of a Neymar equaliser.

Since then, both sides have won three out of three domestically.

PSG have scored 13 goals in that period. The Ligue 1 leaders were not in action at the weekend but they won their last match 5-1 away to Lyon in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick, Neymar and Pablo Sarabia also got their names on the scoresheet.

PSG have won each of their last three home matches in the Champions League without conceding a goal. That includes their 3-0 win over Real Madrid and a 5-0 thrashing of Galatasaray.

Borussia Dortmund made it five wins on the spin with a 2-1 win at Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. Thorgan Hazard and Achraf Hakimi scored for the visitors who are 2nd in the Bundesliga, four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Dortmund’s last away match in Europe ended in a 3-1 defeat at Barcelona. They also lost 2-0 at Inter Milan before that.

The away goal rule means that a 1-0 win for PSG would be enough to see them through to the quarter-finals. A 2-1 win for PSG would send the match to extra time, and then to a penalty shootout if need be.

Thomas Tuchel’s job could be on the line if his side are knocked out by his former club.

The draw for the last eight will take place on 15 March.

Paris Saint-Germain team news vs Borussia Dortmund

Thomas Tuchel will be forced into making at least two changes from the first leg.

Thomas Meunier and Marco Verratti both miss out through suspension after a totting up of yellow cards in the competition. Juan Bernat and Leandro Paredes are likely to fill in.

PSG will be sweating on the fitness of Thiago Silva, who missed out at Lyon last week. Marquinhos may be used at centre-back if Silva is unavailable.

Kylian Mbappe should be fit to start despite a recent illness. Edinson Cavani is a doubt due to personal reasons.

Julian Draxler, Mauro Icardo and Pablo Sarabia were among the unused substitutes in the first leg.

Colin Dagba is another injury concern for the Parisians.

Borussia Dortmund team news vs Paris Saint-Germain

Jadon Sancho started on the bench at Monchengladbach on Saturday and should replace Julian Brandt in the starting eleven.

Lucien Favre could field the same eleven that started the first leg.

Gio Reyna, Marcel Schmelzer, Mario Gotze and Mahmoud Dahoud are all likely to settle for places on the bench.

Marco Reus and Thomas Delaney are both sidelined through injury.
