Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal until 2020, Canal Supporters are reporting.
Once confirmed by the club, the deal should end any transfer rumours linking Cavani with a move away from the Parc des Princes in the upcoming transfer window.
The Uruguayan has been in prolific form this season, scoring 44 goals in 43 matches in all competitions for the Parisians, including 31 in the league, making him Europe’s leading goalscorer.
PSG CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi called Cavani “quite simply the best striker in the world.”
Cavani’s form has markedly improved since the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United in the summer.
Cavani had previously been linked with moves to the Premier League and Spain.
PSG are currently second in Ligue 1, level on points with Monaco but Unai Emery’s side have played a game more.
